Complete Feeds

Grand Prix Arena

12% Protein

Horses that are in light to medium work require a nutrient rich diet that is not too high in energy. They should be fed with a focus on providing what their bodies require for maintenance, health and well-being.

Grand Prix Arena 12% complete pellet feed is designed to meet those nutrient requirements by supplying a range of carefully balanced energy sources and the inclusion of maintenance levels of vitamins and minerals.

When considering changing your horse's diet, there are many factors you need to consider, especially if the reason for the change is that he is losing condition. In addition to improving the quality of his diet with Grand Prix Arena Complete Feed, you should also have your vet check for underlying conditions that may be contributing to his lack of condition such as teeth problems, work levels, weather conditions, pain, worms, stress and poor heath.

"We’ve been using First Place Feeds complete feed and mineral supplements for just over a year now and wouldn’t switch to anything else.  All our horses have glossy, sleek coats and carry excellent weight.  We are able to easily maintain the good condition of our horses all throughout the competition season, even with the pressure of heavy workload and stress.   Thank you for making such a great product."

Grand Prix Supreme

14% Protein

The development of the foal begins at the time of conception, and the importance of appropriate feeding from this time onwards can not be overstressed. Supreme 14% complete pellets was designed to meet the needs of pregnant and lactating mares, and young stock up to 2 years old.

Every mare has an optimum body condition, and productivity will be at it's very best if this is maintained all year long. She should have a layer of fat covering her ribs so they are not actually seen, but can be easily felt by running your hand down the side of her rib cage. During the last three months of pregnancy, a fetus gains 65% of it's birth weight, and foals are born with 40% of their skeletal structure already developed. If the mare is receiving a deficient diet at this stage of pregnancy, there is a definite possibility that the foal will develop it's skeletal structure with an inadequate supply or incorrect balance of vitamins and minerals.

Developmental Orthopedic Disorders are found in foals less than 2 weeks old, indicating the cause can be genetic or malnutrition. The rapid growth of the fetus will coincide with a decrease in the mare's appetite, and at this stage she may only eat as little as 1.5% of her body weight.

Grand Prix Veteran

16% Protein

An estimated 30 % of horses are over 15 years old, qualifying them as veterans with different nutritional needs than younger horses.

Grand Prix Veteran 16% complete feed pellet is suitable for active or retired veterans that need to gain or maintain condition. Veteran pellets provide nutrients from digestible fibre with controlled levels of starch.

Good quality protein sources ensure that essential amino acids are provided, and the feed is fortified with the highest levels of vitamins and minerals to promote top condition for the older horse.
