Orgin Name - Latin: Vitex agnus-castus
Chaste-tree berry has been used for thousands of years, mostly by women to ease menstrual problems and to stimulate the production of breast milk. Chaste-tree berries also regulates the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus, therefore making it a great supplement for horses with Cushings Disease.
Warning:
Do not use with pregnant animals.
Do not use at the same time as pharmaceuticals such as Pergolide or Regimate.
Side Effects and Cautions:
Chaste berry has not been associated with serious side effects. However, large doses (over 4 oz daily) may cause gastrointestinal discomfort in some horses. Watch your horse’s mannerisms and add salt to encourage water intake.
Mare’s attitude at her heat cycle:
Dosage: 1-2 teaspoon twice daily for 3 weeks on then 1 week off. May be increased by 1 teaspoon per day during the mare’s heat cycle.
Cushings Disease Diagnosis – Chaste Berry is not a cure but will aid with hair shed out, increased circulation, regulate pituitary gland and hypothalamus.
Dosage: 6-15g (1/2 to 1 oz), 2 x day. 4 weeks on then 1 week off)
This product may be administered to lactating mares to aid with milk production.
